About me
My name is Irving Dyson Jr and I have been working with kids for as long as I can remember!
I am graduate of Texas State University's acting program and have experience working with kids/students from two to nineteen as a nanny or a teacher. In the past, I have worked for families with up to four children whose ages ranged from one to eleven.
Some of my day to day activities included, running errands, cooking, keeping the kids safe and engaged, and taking the children to activites. I consider myself a very active person who loves sharing my passion for the arts.
Over the past five years, I have worked as a pre-school prep teacher (in Dumbo) as well as a drop off event coordinator. These two jobs definitely gave me the gift of patience and communication. Which is something that I feel is very important when working with families.
The summer before last, I had an opportunity to teach theatre at the Gathering Program located in Southern Maryland. This program was specifically designed for children who come from low-income families, students who have trouble reading, and students with behavioral differences. This particular job allowed me to introduce the arts to children who have never been exposed to the performing arts.
I've also taught a variety of theatre classes which included short form improv, theatre games, building a character, and tools for acting at Stage Door Manor -- one of the top acting training programs for kids in the country.
I have professional child care experience with...
- Toddlers
- Preschoolers
- School-aged (K-5)
- Preteen
- Teenagers
- Twins
- Multiples
- Special Needs
In 5 years, I hope to be...
Working more consistently on stage and on film. I also hope to get the opportunity to share my writing and my stories with the world, including the kiddos I work with.
Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...
Since teaching is also my passion, I hope to share my passion for the performing arts. In the past, I have created music videos, worked on songs, monologues, and audition prep with the children I babysat.
