About me
I have been a nanny in the downtown Manhattan area for over 15 years. I started slowly as a "mother's helper " and with my genuine love for children and intuitive willingness to help, became a full time nanny. I think of myself as energetic, creative and silly while keeping an honest demeanor that lets kids feel safe to express themselves in a free and fun way. I believe in teaching the children I watch respect and manners while also making them strong and bold.
Being a nanny is a job that teaches me something new and beautiful everyday and reminds me what is important in life. Kids are unique and I find their lack of filter rather refreshing. I think the best part of being a nanny is becoming close with the families and the neighborhood I'm surrounded by. My parents are both creative and were/are a huge influences on me. I think that's why I love to teach kids art and watch them be creative.
For the last four years I have watched three little girls from when they were one, three and five grow into young ladies. When the middle child was diagnosed with type one diabetes at the age of four everything about being a nanny changed. While it has been an intense learning curve it has also taught me how to become a serious care giver. I have to balance administering insulin all the while simultaneously being loving and understanding and offering distractions. I also enjoy having dance parties and teaching kids about different genres of music and often go to concerts and music festivals.
I have professional child care experience with...
- Infants
- Toddlers
- Preschoolers
- School-aged (K-5)
- Preteen
- Multiples
- Special Needs
In 5 years, I hope to be...
I am determined to complete a degree in child psychology, after switching from a photography major at F.I.T. I would like to start a family of my own or at least be heading in that direction. Overall I want to be starting a long term career that I'm passionate about and that is rewarding. I think that's why I have been a nanny for such a long time, my love for kids and their life and energy have kept me fulfilled and happy.
Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...
While I try to teach responsibility, independence and respect with the kids I watch, some of the more fun and creative skills I teach them are art and laughter based. I enjoy teaching them how to bake, make messy art projects, picnics, reading, photography and anything that involves exploration and basic silliness. I find most children teach me a lot of these traits in different and unique ways. I genuinely like learning and sharing these activities with them and that's why these are things I try to incorporate while getting to know them as individuals.
