About me

I'm a recent graduate, having received a Masters in Mental Health Counseling. I chose to study the field of Psychology because I'm passionate about people. I find it very rewarding to care for and help others, so you can be secure in the fact that your child(ren) is in good hands. I've been babysitting since I was 16, but have professional experience from age 18 (10 years), when I started college. I have experience with children from age 3 months-13 years. During that time I worked with families that needed assistance with sleep training, potty training, and development of verbal skills.

I believe in giving children the opportunity to explore and learn about their surroundings. As a result, I love to take my charges to the playground, library, museum, etc. The city is perfect for such activities. For example, trips this summer included Dumbo (where we explored the water park and later took a ride on Jane's Carousel), the Mo Willems exhibit at the New York Historical Society, and the MOMA. I've also perfected my arts and crafts skills over the years and love to turn it into teaching moments. For example, saying colors out loud, drawing shapes, counting the number of balloons we've drawn. Other educational activities include fun flash cards that are age appropriate. Finally, I love to read to or with my charges and, if I can bring Mo Willems into the mix, even better. Please note that, while I find it important for children to have fun, I find it just as important that these activities provide children with an opportunity to learn and develop.

Over the years I've found that I truly enjoy being around children because of their creativity and passion to learn. I also love that I'm one, of many, people who are directly involved in the development and growth of that child. It's a responsibility that I am honored to have and take seriously.

In 5 years, I hope to be...

Pursuing all of my passions; counseling, nannying, and writing. More specifically, I hope to be making strides and growing in my career, where I can use my experience to help families. As a result, I am always looking for ways to improve myself so that I have more to bring to the table.

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

I love arts and crafts and often use it as an opportunity to teach about colors, shapes, and numbers. Also, since I love exploring the city, I tend to go on outings to museums, parks, and pop up children events (with permission). Finally, I have an embarrassing amount of children's songs that I love to sing and dance to. Extra points if my charges join in on the fun. Secret: No child has ever been able to resist my "grand" finale to "Open, Shut Them".
