About me
I am an actress and nanny. I relocated from Chicago to New York with my fiancé. I have 7 years of childcare experience with ages from 5 months to 11 years and in addition to that, teaching and private coaching experience with children of middle and high school age. I grew up in a really large family. Now, when I say large I mean large. I have 18 first cousins! So, family and spending time together was always really important. For me, taking care of children I think came from that. I just really loved seeing children of different ages grow and learn different things about themselves. I think it also came from my mom being a teacher and appreciating that side of her.
As I mentioned above, I am an actress. I have been performing since the age of 8 and professionally performing since the age of 17. I have a BFA in musical theater and I have taught children both musical theater and acting. I love bringing the arts into the homes of the families I work with whether that is through puppet shows, fashions shows, plays, art projects, dance parties, or just listening to music to stimulate growth with little ones. I think its a lot of fun and really important. I'm also a really active person. I think its important to be outside and exploring . My family's motto growing up was "life is an adventure" so I like to encourage children to try new things whether that's new foods, a new park, or a new activity.
Additionally, I am a triplet! I grew up with two other siblings and I think it was amazing. It allowed me to always have two friends that I knew had my back no matter what. But another aspect of being one in a set of multiples is that it forces you to search for your sense of self and identity really early on. I know who I am, I know what I am looking for, I am very communicative, and I love what I do. I think my family is who made me who I am. My experiences as a triplet, and my interactions and observations of my large family and my mother as a teacher have all lead me here.
I have professional child care experience with...
- Infants
- Toddlers
- Preschoolers
- School-aged (K-5)
- Preteen
- Teenagers
- Twins
- Special Needs
In 5 years, I hope to be...
Hopefully I will be trying to have my own family. But I always wanted to have my own theater and open an educational outreach program. It was something I wrote about doing in high school, so I think it would be a really cool thing to be doing eventually now that I am here.
Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...
There are so many things I love to do with children but I really like to hone in on their interests and branch out from there. I love to get kids in the kitchen with me. I find it makes them more excited to try the foods I am making for them, so they are less picky eaters that way. I also like taking old things and making them into something new, so I have made Halloween decorations from egg cartons, and we have made art pieces from clothes that don't fit kids any more, or used them to make hats or costumes for a play we will make up that day. Or if the kids are less artistically inclined we will go to a park and just make up a game. I don't know. I like to encourage kids to think out side of the box, and not limit themselves.
