About me

I’m originally from Alabama, but moved to the NYC area several years ago to pursue a career in professional theatre. In my time in the city I’ve worked as an actor, singer, director, producer, and writer. Theatre is my passion and much of my experience in the arts has been sharing my passion of theatre with children. About seven years ago, some friends and I formed a small theatre company to produce new artistic projects including our unanimous favorite “Blue Plate Broadway”, a unique musical theatre camp. We wanted to create a safe learning environment for students from different talent levels, cultural experiences, and socioeconomic backgrounds to come together as one diverse, loving community. Over our past seven summer sessions, our camp has grown into a huge annual event that is incredibly rewarding to my creative team, our students, and their families. Any time I work with kids, it is my goal to create a similar environment where kids feel safe to ask questions and respect the diversity of the ever-changing world around us.

While it is exciting for me to share my love of theatre with kids, I also get much of my creative inspiration from them. I am the author of the children’s musical “Monkey Boogers” that is currently being pitched for television, as well as a new book of children’s poetry I’ve created entitled “Little Trees.” All of the work I create for children is inspired by and dedicated to my students. I love writing for kids, listening to them sing my songs, and engaging in discussions that the material evokes.

Also for many years, I held down a senior performer position at Ellen’s Stardust Diner in Times Square where I had the opportunity to work with families and children from all over the world to celebrate holidays, vacations, and birthdays. Every day for eight years I got to host some sort of party -- so I know how to have fun!

In 5 years, I hope to be...

In 5 years, I’d like to see myself as a full time college professor with a new hit musical on Broadway. I’d also love to see one of my kid’s shows developed and produced for television. A guy can dream, right?

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

My many years of working in a summer camp setting has prepared me to always have a game or ice breaker on hand, but I also love sharing my passion of music, creative writing, cooking, visual art, and puppetry with kids.
