About me

I am a dancer, artist, writer, reader, vegetarian, outdoors-lover and amateur photographer who has been caring for children in various capacities for over ten years. With two younger sisters and many younger cousins in my close-knit, New York City family, taking care of children came naturally to me from a very early age.
My professional work began with mother's helper jobs that eventually led to part-time and full-time positions, occasionally even traveling with a family on vacations in the summer. I love getting to know children over a long-term commitment, and the wealth of my experience has come from a family with two girls that I have worked for on-and-off over the past six years. I also have spent time as a camp counselor, dance instructor and community outreach volunteer with children ranging from 3 years old to high school-ers.
My experience with most ages of children, from young toddlers to teenagers, has taught me enjoy the spectrum of learning and sharing that comes with these different ages. As a dancer, I highly enjoy sharing movement and active play with energetic young children (whether this be showing them ballet, yoga or modern dance movements, playing freeze dance, or simply using movement as a fun and whimsical way to move through the day).
I also love to read, have always enjoyed school and have experience as a tutor and proof-reader, so I am happy to help with the academic pursuits of older children. Ultimately, I believe in creating a balance of stimulating conversation, intellectual engagement, and creative play in all ages of children.
I also love to cook-- I am a pescetarian but am comfortable cooking non-vegetarian meals, and always strive to make organic, healthful meals. Above all, I seek to expose children to an active, positive and healthy way of interacting with the world, while constantly learning from them as well.

In 5 years, I hope to be...

Working professionally as a dancer-- mainly creating my own work and having funding to help support this endeavor, though also working for other choreographers whom I admire and respect. I would love to be teaching dance as well, and possibly with a few months or years of traveling under my belt. I am interested in returning to Argentina (which I have visited before) and being involved in the arts community there, or perhaps spending time another country. I also have a deep fascination with movement therapy and body-work techniques such as massage, Alexander Technique and Feldenkrais, so within five years I would love to be immersed in a training program for one of these fields, or already certified.

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

Dance, yoga, healthful cooking, swimming, exploring outdoors, reading, writing, theater/acting games, photography, simple sports activities (playing catch, tennis, swimming, etc.), Spanish.
