About me

I have been babysitting since I was twelve years old. Over the past two decades, I have provided childcare to many families, first in South Carolina, and now NYC. I have also been a teaching artist for the past three years. It brings me great joy to engage children in devising and telling stories. As an actor and writer, I love creating things. I am always inspired by the imagination of children. As a childcare provider, I love to incorporate my experience as an actor, writer, and teacher in my activities with children.

I earned degrees in both theatre and psychology from the College of Charleston. While at college, I volunteered for a crisis and suicide hotline as a phone counselor. We also answered calls for a teen hotline, where I counseled many teenagers. This experience strengthened my sense of empathy, patience, and listening skills. I believe that kids often just want to be heard and feel like what they have to say matters. I love simply listening and engaging a child in conversation.

When I graduated from college, I worked at a professional theatre in Greenville, SC. I performed and taught Shakespeare to middle and high school students across Greenville County. I also partnered with an anti-bullying program to facilitate conversations about bullying with sixth graders.

From there, I went on to Rutgers University where I received an Masters of Fine Arts degree. I moved to NYC several years ago and have been working with children as both a babysitter and a teaching artist ever since. I find great fulfillment and inspiration from sharing my love of creating with children.
