About me

I absolutely love working with children! Some of my favorite memories have been the conversations I've had with kids who can be equally funny as they are profound and I've learned so much from the many different kids I've been able to get to know. I especially love reading with children (babies too!) and teaching them to read themselves. I believe establishing a relationship with children based on trust and mutual respect, as well as finding mutual interests (like reading, crafts, or games) is the key to a harmonious sitter/child relationship. I've worked with infants all the way up through pre-teen ages whether through babysitting, nannying, volunteer outreaches, and drama/art camp. I also have experience with special needs and newborns.

I come from a background in theatre (which happens to be what my Bachelor's degree is in) with a love for all of the arts and literature, and spend a great deal of my spare time reading and writing. (I write for a pre-teen girl's faith based magazine as well as various theatre criticism in NYC.) I served as the Drama Camp Specialist and counselor supervisor for a K-5 summer camp which included creating my own curriculum and directing weekly performances and I love incorporating a child's creativity and imagination into their day to day activities. I feel like I am a teacher at heart and love watching children learn as I continually strive to never stop learning myself.

In 5 years, I hope to be...

A playwright producing my own work, writing in various other capacities, and teaching at the high school or collegiate level. I also hope in five or more years to be starting a family of my own.

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

Drama and theatre can be taught at almost any age by playing theatre games. I've found it's not only fun but very enriching for them by building confidence and forcing them to use their minds and giving them an outlet to play and express themselves. Hours fly by as they utilize their imaginations and spend time creating instead of watching tv which is always a plus.
