About me

At age 12, I took an introductory babysitting course with the Red Cross, fell in love with the idea of working with children, and subsequently began serving as a mother's helper for as many neighborhood families as would take me. My initial interest has led to over a decade of experience working with children in various capacities: as a mother's helper, babysitter, nanny, nursery assistant, music teacher, summer camp administrator, and teaching artist. Through these many experiences, I've worked with children of all ages; I've babysat an infant while her mom left the house for the first time alone since giving birth and offered advice to teenagers on balancing extracurricular pursuits with schoolwork. I am passionate, creative, and highly organized and enjoy becoming a helpful part of a family's daily life. I love music, art, baking, and reading. I enjoy cooking and am comfortable working with a variety of dietary restrictions. I believe in bringing my whole self and range of skills and interests to my work with children and am grateful for the many opportunities I've had to do just that.

I truly believe in treating even the youngest children as fully fledged people- listening to their feelings, engaging with their ideas, and respecting them from our first interactions. I also believe in forming relationships with parents that are just as strong and communicative as those I form with their children. Above all, I believe that communication, safety, and trust are integral to any working relationship, and that a solid foundation of those three elements allows for the best opportunity for fun and play. I take great pride in making a child's life more joyful and a parent's life easier, in whatever way that manifests on a given day. My favorite work days are those that I leave knowing I helped a family have the best possible day, usually humming a song we made up or thinking of a new story we created, ready to jump right in again the following day.

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

My own eclectic educational history and upbringing have provided me with a ton of skills that invigorate my work as a babysitter. I love to make music; I play ukulele & basic piano, as well as sing. I have experience in ceramics and painting and love to try any new art project I can find on Pinterest. I feel passionately about instilling a love of reading at an early age. I love to teach others how to bake favorite recipes. Most of all, I can turn any story, song, or idea into a fun imaginative play scenario.
