About me
I’ve been in childcare for as long as I can remember. Being one of 7 siblings and an aunt of 8 nieces & nephews it was an easy transition for me to become the “go-to sitter” for families and friends. I love kids, and parents know that I care for them as if they were my own! I also have served as a mentor to youth (ages 12-18) across NYC with my local church at C3.NYC for the past 3 years . Additionally, I have had the professional experience of being a camp counselor for two summers in Long Island, an after-school sitter in Park Slope for two boys ages 7&8 for 2 years, an Urban Education Fellow at a charter school in Manhattan for a year, tutoring small groups of 7th grade students, a nanny in the UWS to 3 awesome girls for 2+ years, and most recently I am training as a Partner Teacher in the rigorous New York City Teaching Collaborative program & pursuing a Masters degree in English Language Arts (7-12) to become a certified teacher by Fall 2019.
I am fun, positive, passionate, patient, engaging and I also have a strong ability to enforce expectations and discipline as needed. When working with children, I create a secure, structured environment while leaving plenty of room for creative fun. The most important part, for me, as a caretaker is to maintain awareness of my influence on the children in my care. I place a high value on the individual and what example I am setting for them in word and deed. I am not a sitter that does the bare minimum. I am someone who will truly invest in your child’s mental, emotional and intellectual health and growth. It is my greatest joy to serve humanity in this way, by building up and shaping our youth in positive and loving ways.
