About me

My name is Jeanie and I am a Registered Nurse (RN). I just completed an accelerated nursing program at Hunter College. In the past, I have been lucky enough to work with multiple families as a full-time nanny, summertime nanny, and part-time babysitter. I have also worked with kids as an assistant summer camp counselor and volunteered as a tutor for middle school children. I have experience working with all different age groups from infancy to teens. I truly enjoy getting to know the kids I work with and playing a role in their growth and development.

Previously, I cared for three young girls (3, 5, and 7) on the UWS as a full-time nanny. I was what we called the "CEO of the household." I did a little bit of everything and jumped in where needed. My main responsibilities included preparing lunch and dinner, ordering groceries and other household items, doing pick-ups and drop-offs, coordinating playdates and other activities, overseeing bath time, and putting the kids to bed. Some of our favorite activities included going for picnics in Central Park, making friendship bracelets, playing dress up, building forts, baking cookies, and crafting.

I also worked part time caring for an adorable 18 month-old girl and her tiny 2 month-old brother. I was responsible for engaging the girl in fun and educational activities, preparing healthy lunches, feeding the baby boy, adhering to their sleep schedules, and some light housekeeping. We loved listening to music and strolling through Central Park.

Last year, I babysat for a fun-loving 10 y.o. boy during the week. I helped him with his homework and was responsible for taking him to all of his after-school activities. We loved to play ping pong, go to the park, and started a YouTube channel all about cooking with kids.

Recently, I completed my pediatric clinical rotation and an internship in the neonatal intensive care unit. I really enjoyed my experience and hope to land a job in this field of nursing.

From my experience, the best caregiver is someone who is energetic, reliable, and knows how to go with the flow. Raising kids can be hectic, so you need someone flexible that you can trust to have plenty of fun with your kids while also maintaining and safe and structured environment. I work very hard at striking this balance. Plus, I love what I do. Working with kids has always been something that I've enjoyed and hope to continue doing once I am a nurse!

In 5 years, I hope to be...

A pediatric or neonatal nurse practitioner.

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

I'm in the process of learning Spanish and in my last position, I had a lot of fun singing songs and playing games to help the kids learn their colors, numbers, etc. I also love doing anything active with the kids: playing soccer, running around and playing tag, volleyball... Basically anything that keeps us moving! I'm also a big lover of crafts and creative play.
