About me

I originally hail from the Detroit, MI area and have spent my years in New York pursuing entertainment and going to school. If my childcare experience has taught me anything, it's that you need to meet children where they are and really get on their level. Once I realized that the reason their emotions could be considered “dramatic" over the silliest of things was because they very well could be experiencing that feeling for the first time, it put a lot into perspective. Therefore, my tolerance for outbursts is high and I know I can handle whatever they've got! With my most recent job, I don't think I laughed so hard for so many consecutive days ever. Kids are hilarious. Their lack of filter, honesty, and precociousness enrich my life whenever I'm with them. Along with their humor, they really help me think about what's most important in life and how to be grateful for this life I've been given.

As someone who is passionate about the arts, I love to incorporate them whenever I can. I feel that art can be so many things including healing, mind expanding, and soothing. However, if arts are not their thing, I'd much rather do something they're passionate about. Whether that's play a sport with them, read aloud together, go on a museum run, etc. Sometimes seeing the world through children's eyes is like seeing things for the first time and that's why I love working with them.

In 5 years, I hope to be...

Working in the entertainment field as often as possible singing and acting. I'm also interested in obtaining my Assistant Teaching Certificate within the next year or so.

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

Children who have a passion for music and/or “playing pretend" and I will get along great. I love to teach songs and do funny voices, faces, and impressions, even though kids are a tough crowd sometimes! We grew up in my house playing cards often so I'm always ready to teach anyone a card game they might not know. In terms of approved fun, I like to let them take the reins for a little bit in terms of deciding what to do. You're only young once! As long as the parent approves, why not?
