About me

When I was four, my little brother was born. My parents had read in a parenting journal that it was natural for older siblings to get jealous upon the birth of a new child, so to balance the attention and prevent tantrums, they gave me a doll at the hospital, saying it was a gift from my little brother. I, however, was completely disinterested -- the second I saw my brother, I tossed the doll and refused to leave his side for the rest of the night.

Now, many years later, that nurturing, maternal part of me hasn't budged for a second. I've been working with children for ten years: from full and part-time nannying, to teaching yoga and dance to children, to date night babysitting, to tutoring and teacher assisting, to working at performing arts camps and community centers. Although most of my experience nannying and teaching is with kids ages 3-6, I have cared for children ages four months to fourteen years. I have an enormous heart for children of all ages, and am an extremely energetic and enthusiastic individual. I aim to bring light and positivity to all that I do!

I'm a professional dancer and musical theatre performer, and hold a B.A. in Dance Performance with a Minor in English Literature. I'm truly passionate about health and fitness, and love running around outdoors. I have a world of dietary restrictions of my own, so I'm more than comfortable navigating or cooking around a child's food allergies or family dietary choices. I'm also an avid reader (my first word was "book"!), and love reading bedtime stories and helping kids learn to read.

I work with children because I believe that kids have something so very important to teach us as adults. As we grow up, we tend to lose our sense of wonder with the world. Children have an incredible, natural way of showing us that the small things in life can truly be the most beautiful, wonderful parts of it. I think it's important to see the world through the unfiltered eyes of a child sometimes, and vice versa, to give these children the support they need to grow up and become outstanding adults.

In 5 years, I hope to be...

Still living a fulfilling life in New York, building and maintaining strong and healthy relationships, and pursuing (if not actualizing) my dream of performing on a Broadway stage. It's been my singular steady dream to perform on Broadway since childhood, and a career goal I hope to actualize in years to come!

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

As I've said, I'm a professional dancer and yoga instructor. I love to get kids moving, and I love to share my passion for dance and yoga with them! Whether that comes in the form of taking deep breaths when they get upset, having a dance party to utilize excess energy before a nap or to boost happiness levels and morale, or simply teaching them fun or challenging poses to build confidence, I am a huge proponent of physical activities for children. Additionally, I've spent a lot of time being a part of community service and volunteer efforts, and I think it's important to share the skill of giving (without receiving) with children. For younger kids, that could mean sharing a toy or a sweet treat with a friend, or picking up trash at a park. For pre-teens and adolescents, it could mean volunteering with them at an animal shelter or retirement home. I have a servant's heart, and aspire to be selfless in my actions. Doing things for others is something I love to share with the kids I work with.
