About me

There are many reasons why I love taking working with children. They often make me laugh, and encourage me to get in touch with my silly side. I enjoy serving as a role model to them, and being able to give them advice and help them with anything from baking cookies to doing math homework to solving an argument they’re having with their friends. But I think the biggest reason why I love kids is that they teach me so much about being a better person. Like the elderly, I sincerely believe they have a lot to teach us all about opening ourselves up to the world and being true to who we really are. As an actor, I’ve spent so much time working through defense mechanisms that I’ve put up over the years that threaten to prevent the playful, uninhibited, and often vulnerable piece of me that makes for great work. And I have found, time and time again, that children help me to remember what is really important and not to be afraid to be truthful to that piece of myself, which not only helps me to be a better actor, but a better person, as well.

I believe that each child is a unique individual who needs a secure, caring, and creatively stimulating environment in which to learn and grow, and though I am not an educator or a parent, I hope to be able to provide this type of environment, even if only for a few evenings a week, to the children that I work with and care for.

I have had the privilege of working with children from pre-school age all the way up to early teens. I have been a babysitter for numerous families, as well as a camp counselor at summer programs for both dance and theater. I also took several Childhood Education courses while in college.

I am an actor and dancer who loves books, movies, dogs, and cooking. I am really passionate in particular about children’s literature, in which I took several courses in college, and I love talking with kids about books and writing, so it’s always a plus when I work with children who love to read. Over the years, I’ve hosted tea parties, built Barbie villages, gone to museums and parks, built forts, fished, and played many indoor and outdoor imaginary games. I have enjoyed every minute of it.

I am a patient, caring, and responsible person who has genuinely always loved children and has chosen a career highlighting my character strengths of creativity, imagination, and a sense of play, a career that both inspires and is inspired by working with kids.
