About me

What I enjoy most in life is spending time with kids and dancing! I am a graduate of the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Dance. My involvement with childcare took off with my first summer job: Girl Scout Camp Counselor. I spent every day with girls ages 5-12. We made crafts, painted each other's nails, danced, played many outdoor games, and went on field trips. It was such a fun way to spend my summer, and was a nice escape from the hard school work I was doing at college. I began to look for babysitting opportunities whenever I was on a break from school, and got to look after many wonderful children and work with many wonderful families! By my senior year of college, I became involved with the Gainesville Retreat Center, where I would watch children of all ages (even pets and elderly folks as well!) while their parents/guardians were taking a yoga or meditation class. As my involvement with the retreat center progressed, I had the opportunity to not only work as a sitter for their summer camp, but I also taught a dance class for the kids. Immediately following graduation, I worked as the Choreographer-in-Residence at the Harn Museum of Art. I created several dances for specific events. One event, Family Day, involved sharing my dance with children and answering their questions. We had wonderful conversations about dance and the art in the museum.

Since I moved to Brooklyn, I have been working as a live-in nanny. I take care of two boys, ages 5 and 7, and it has been a blast building a friendship with them! I have rediscovered my love for soccer, and I've become great at building Legos. I most enjoy working with children because we can learn so much from each other while having a great time. In my free time, I work at a dance studio called Brooklyn Arts Exchange. Soon, I will be teaching a dance workshop there for children as well! The combination of my two passions is shaping into my dream career, and I couldn't be happier to continue my involvement with both dance and working with families.
