About me

In college I was known as that girl from the opera, my friends knew me as the courageous one, and as a teacher I was the one with the best story teller voice. I am a bubbly, outgoing, often funny lady (kids love my jokes anyway!), with a love of all things music, art, and nerdy!

I love working with kids because there is a wonderful excitement they bring into the world. The are excited and happy, reminding me that the world is a wonderful place with so many exciting things. To kids every thing is new and exciting, and with discoveries around every corner it's a really fun adventure to go on with them. I have worked in many different settings with youth, from a classroom of 31 kindergarteners, to a camp cabin of 15 boy-crazy campers. I have tutored and babysat, nannied, and mentored. Each setting I have been a part of, while as amazing, is totally different than the last.

What allows me to thrive in a young environment is how versatile I am. Each time I start with a new child I work to get to know them as a person and as a learner helping me to frame how best to approach teaching. I want to know if someone likes Spiderman or Batman, if they love being called dude and getting high fives, or if they learn via modeling or doing. Building the relationship allows me to achieve the goal we set out to reach, while keeping an engaged and flexible environment; because let's be real, we are human and sometimes life happens and you just have to roll with it!

In 5 years, I hope to be...

Teaching or tutoring full time. I would love to work in small groups teaching reading at a learning center or in a school environment, or teaching music and theater.

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

Anything and everything creative! I love teaching music and art, and at my last school I ran the musical theater club. I also I am a big reader and love sharing a great book with the kiddos I am working with, especially Harry Potter!
