About me
I've been taking care of children for more than a decade. As the oldest of four, I've always been a babysitter by nature. I began working for neighbors, then put myself through college by working as a babysitter and nanny. I've worked with children of all ages, from infants, to toddlers, to teenagers. I've worked mainly with families with at least two children. I've learned how to handle the competing demands on your attention, the disputes, and the logistical challenges of dealing with multiple children's schedules and interests.
I've learned how to deal with children with both patience and firmness. I never yell, and instead rely on kindness and staying calm in the face of a challenge. I like using the 1-2-3 method and time-outs. I believe that children are happy to go along with rules as long as they're given a chance to understand what's being asked of them.
I've always loved reading, art, museums, and history. I enjoy sharing these passions with children, and it's such a joy to see their idea of the world expanding through a story or piece of art. I also love to cook and try new foods, listen to music, and spend time with my dog. I enjoy working with children because it's as challenging a job as any and requires countless skills, but you get to work in a fun and unpredictable setting.
