About me

My name is Candace and I am a recent graduate of Sarah Lawrence College where I studied literature, modern art history, and the arts. I am originally from Chicago, and have remained in New York since finishing school here and am happy to call Brooklyn my home.

Currently, I am looking for positions to supplement my freelance work in the arts. I write and perform music, act for film and stage, I have danced since childhood and enjoy other forms of exercise such as yoga and swimming, and I dabble in drawing and illustration. I am a very creative person and I find that these artistic traits really tie into my work with kids. I grew up with three younger siblings and many younger cousins, so babysitting is something I became accustomed to at a very early age. This experience at home eventually branched out into working with other families and even spending time as a camp counselor and arts teacher.

I am an advocate for arts and crafts, reading books, listening to new music, spending time outside, watching movies on a rainy day, and eating well. As an academic person, I am happy to help with homework and school assignments as well, and help kids find the fun in learning. I have worked with kids of all ages, needs, and backgrounds, and I love working with children because they never cease to have the brightest imaginations.
