About me
I started working with kids in college for an after-school performing arts program. I taught kids ages 8-12 performance and singing techniques and a lot of improvisation games. It was at that moment I realized I felt very at ease connecting with kids in this way. After that experience, I tried many different jobs in hospitality/restaurant management, group fitness, and film production and didn't return to childcare until I moved to NYC to pursue acting. I got lucky and found two amazing families in Park Slope, Brooklyn that needed after-school childcare for their two children, ages 8 and 12. So two days a week I took care of a two sisters and two brothers.
Each child was unique and brought me a lot of joy. One sister was super creative and brought out the artist in me. The other was very studious and loved to bake. I would help her on school projects and be her sous chef in the kitchen. One brother loved my accents and impersonations and we ended up making cooking videos a lot with iMovie where he would take on a French accent and call himself Chef Lil Cupcake. The parents loved these videos. The other brother was into soccer and so when the weather was nice, we'd visit the park and play together. Each child was incredibly bright, funny, well-mannered and thoughtful. Homework was always completed before the parents got home. The house would always be tidy too. Our time together was that great balance of play mixed with concentrated work on their studies and after-school endeavors like piano lessons, gymnastics and softball. I have fond memories of helping them make halloween costumes and crepes, playing catch and giggling over spilled flour in the kitchen. This work is very heart-warming and it's always an honor to be a part of a child's imagination and development.
