About me

I'm an actor/writer who has been living in New York City for several years. I attended college at Carnegie Mellon University where I got my BFA in Acting. After graduation, I moved to New York to pursue acting.

Since working in NYC, I've held many survival jobs, but I have decided to focus on babysitting because I like cultivating a specific relationship with a family and a child. There's a special bond which happens in childcare where one can become a part of a family in a way that other jobs do not allow. There have been a few moments in babysitting where the child and I will be laughing and it feels as if I'm with one of my friends. These are the relationships I hope to cultivate with SmartSitting families.

I feel empathy and interest in the specific needs of the children I babysit. I hope to be able to get to know the kids I work with as individuals. One summer, I worked as a camp counselor at a small camp in Virginia. Many of the kids felt uncomfortable in their skin: some painfully shy, others extremely attention seeking, and nearly all experiencing unhappiness with their bodies. By the end of the summer, I was proud to be seen as someone who the campers looked up to and trusted. I am driven on one hand and relaxed on the other, which allowed the children that summer to feel that their passions were encouraged and their quirks not registered. This is one of the qualities I like most about myself: the acceptance of people (and children) as who they are.

In 5 years, I hope to be...

Working consistently and constantly as an actor on stage and TV. I'd like to continue producing my own work: a huge dream of mine is to employ my friends. One of the greatest goals I have is to give the people I love work and the opportunity to shine.

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

As an actor, I'm great at imaginary games, dressing up, and playing pretend. I'm an expert storyteller and have a boundless amount of energy. However, this can translate into non-theatrical activities. I'm inexhaustible at sports games, hide and seek, and tag. Most importantly, my abilities as an actor allow me to have a heightened sense of empathy and interest in individual children. I'm good at getting kids to open up to me and fulfilling the role of "older sister/ mentor". Additionally, while I'm personally responsible, I'm laid back and encouraging, which helps kids feel an allowance to share without judgement. On a final note, I'm very funny, which is appreciated by the parents and children with whom I work!
