About me

As an especially optimistic, nurturing, passionate and hard-working woman, I am confident that I would be a positive and loving addition to a family in need of a childcare provider. I provide a warm, encouraging atmosphere where children feel comfortable asking questions and trying new things, yet I remain firm in what a family has asked for as far as completing tasks and responsibilities and upholding family values.

Children have incredibly honest and authentic qualities about them, which is one of their most endearing traits. I think it is essential to help nurture and encourage them as they grow. Whether instilling and maintaining morals, positive behavioral habits, enriching their sense of play and curiosity or helping them navigate social situations, there is so much to not only teach but to learn from children. Their sense of wonder is something that is harder to maintain as we grow up, but equally important to keep and I wish more adults were able to experience life alongside a child who is discovering and learning something new every day.

I have worked with children in family settings, camp settings, ministry, and school settings. No matter where I am, being with children is immensely fulfilling. The look of satisfaction and pride when they master their homework or are simply having a great time with friends on a play date is priceless. I want to help more children achieve that feeling.

In 5 years, I hope to be...

As a woman with many goals, my five-year plan is constantly growing and evolving. Although you can’t predict life’s turns, professionally, I see myself either starring in an NYC based television show or in a Broadway musical. I also see myself having just launched my children’s book series. Personally, I hope to be married and beginning a family of my own here in the city.

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

Each child brings different joys and interests to the table, so I adapt my skill set and sharable interests to those of the child. By nature, I am a very creative person who loves all things music, art and literature related. I also have quite a love for nature and make a point to be outside as much as possible to enjoy the changing seasons and opportunities that come with each. I love helping children read and sharing my love of stories with them. I also enjoy practicing instruments and additionally have provided children with vocal lessons in the past. Besides structured lessons, one of my favorite activities with my most recent family’s child is singing karaoke and putting on “performances” that we create together and choreograph ourselves. These “shows” involve teaching organization and allow the little girl and her friends to stretch their creativity. They also give me a chance to explain basic dance moves and ballet terms, which I am familiar with. But perhaps most importantly, they help the children cultivate an appreciation of their own skills and talents. One of the fondest memories I have of my most recent child is the look on her face when she learned to curtsy, which is the traditional way of bowing in the dance world. She was so excited to have a new skill she could show her dance class after school the next day. Seasonal activities are something I try to always provide when I am with a family. During previous fall seasons, for instance, I have provided pumpkins to safely carve and decorate with the kids. And with the pumpkin seeds that we extracted, I have taught them how to make a healthy snack. Cooking is one of my favorite hobbies, so I love involving children in the kitchen. There is always some way they can help, and that lets them be a part of a unifying goal and task. Big or small, even simply bringing something to the table encourages teamwork. I am incredibly safe, so in turn I am extremely aware of what’s happening in the kitchen at all times, and no child would be left unattended, or near hot appliances. Athletically, I grew up as an avid swimmer. Even though New York City has more limited pool time opportunities, I am prepared to hop in and help out in the water when I can.
