About me

I grew up in Houston, Texas and 1 of 4 children. I have been working as a nanny and babysitter in NYC for almost 7 years. Being the second oldest, I naturally took on a caretaker role for my younger siblings. From a young age, I felt the most fulfilled when I could take care of people. Starting out as a babysitter and lifeguard at 15 years old, I knew that I wanted to make this my life’s mission. I decided that I wanted to become a nurse very early in life. Both of my grandmothers from each side loved being nurses and it really pushed me to pursue that dream. I took some of my classes and earned an Associates degree in the Arts of Science at Houston Community College and am currently in nursing school at New York City College of Technology in Brooklyn. I believe that being a nanny has really shaped me into the nurse I want to be. Caring, compassionate and patient.

In my 12 years of experience as a nanny, I have had the opportunity to work with several different families from different backgrounds. I have extensive experience in infant and toddler care as well as school age and up. The family I have been with for 4 years has an 9 and 12 year old. I love all ages and feel confident in my ability to connect and care for any age. My strength comes in to play when I able able to keep organized, timely yet sensitive to the child’s needs. I feel comfortable communicating with parents about a game plan and am always open to suggestions.

My childcare philosophy comes with creating a secure and nurturing relationship with myself and the children as well as the family as a whole, I am caring for. Being flexible and a good communicator has been such an important part of my role in nannying and I believe I do well in both!
Creating an organized environment with set boundaries and expectations seem to go a long way. I have been able to learn just as much about myself when meeting and working with a new child, and having the opportunity to learn and grow with them is what makes being a nanny so fulfilling.

In addition to my childcare experience, I am a certified nurses assistant, BCLS and CPR certified, and have been trained in first aid.

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

Reading is one of my favorite things to do and I enjoy teaching children that it is a fun and educational way to keep your mind entertained. Encouraging young children to really use their imagination and not rely on electronics for entertainment has always been a goal of mine.
