About me
My life in New York City centers around a passion for education - of both myself and the children that I work with. I have been working with young people since I was a kid myself, starting my first job at 13 as a summer camp counselor in the tiny mountain town of Virginia City, Nevada. Since then I have taken on many different roles as a child caretaker: from working as a DSP with children with severe learning disabilities, volunteer teaching at a elementary school in the Peruvian Andes, nannying in Brooklyn and Manhattan, to most recently teaching at an alternative preschool. The common thread running between all of these positions is a sincere interest in creating meaningful, fun, and at times magical learning experiences for the children I am happy to call friends.
Since graduating summa cum laude from LIU Global (earning a degree which involved me working with child laborers in India as well as conducting a 5-month long research project at an alternative school in rural Perú), I have been pursuing a career in education right here in NYC. I am 6 credits away from a Masters degree in education research and a Co-Head teacher of a progressive UPK classroom. I take my previous experiences into all of my work with children, and I believe I have a unique perspective on child development.
I plan to shape my career around improving our education system and as I start that path, I am happy to continue my work as a nanny with SmartSitting.

Close to understanding what students in our country need to gain a holistic and meaningful education.
Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...
All things arts and crafts! For the past 3 summers I've taught at Curious Jane - a summer program for girls centered around student-designed projects, and I love to recreate them with children I nanny. I also enjoy baking, circuitry and thinking up seasonal activities in the lovely NYC parks.
