About me
Born and raised in Texas, I have been taking care of children and infants since I was a kid myself. I have a passion for the arts and I have always found ways to incorporate that love with my love of caring for kids. As a high-schooler, another student and myself created a summer theater camp which we planned, organized and executed. It was a learning experience to be sure but I learned a lot of tricks for keeping a kid's attention. As I got older, I became more and more interested in child development. Why does one approach work like magic on one kid and not the other? The more I learned, the better a babysitter I became. I may have been the only girl in my high school reading parenting books. It was one of the biggest reasons in college why I worked at an early childcare center.
As an introverted, creative kid who sometimes lacked confidence, I know firsthand how much a safe, supportive environment can change a kid's world. Giving children the freedom of creativity within structure is what I strive to provide for every child and infant I care for. I believe that through play kids are learning.
My favorite thing about babysitting/nannying are the lasting bonds I create with each child. The ones who I watched grow up from infants and the ones I meet at 10 years old, I love being a good force in their lives. As the kids grow my role changes from caregiver to friend and confidante. It is a joy to see them face challenges and to help them reach their goals.

In 5 years, I hope to be...
Still working in the arts and with children. Finding a new way of integrating those two things.
Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...
Painting and drawing, theatre and movies. One of the best days of childcare was when I was given permission by the parents to take their 5-year-old to his first movie in a movie theater. His awe and excitement were so much fun to witness. I also love sharing a passion for reading with kids. A less artsy skill I try to share with each child is how to solve conflicts, especially with their siblings. As an older sibling myself I know how important that skill can be.
