About me

After being awarded the William R. Kenan, Jr. Fellowship at Lincoln Center Education, and working in a learning environment with elementary and high school aged children, I realized how much I enjoy the journey of discovery each child encounters when experiencing something for the first time. It's a magical moment watching another person grow to know a little bit more about themselves and the world in which they live. Most importantly, I've found it's an incredibly worthy way to dedicate my time -- paying forward the things I've learned, and receiving an even greater education in return.

With my experience as a teaching artist, working in four education departments of art institutions, I nurture creativity and imaginative thinking in each child with whom I work. I'm trained to strengthen a child's observational skills and guide them to original, uninhibited thought. I encourage each student of mine to see the world as it is and imagine how it could be otherwise.

Most importantly, I love to have fun! Making routines exciting is a particular talent of mine. I’m athletic, love taking excursions outdoors, and enjoy a sense of play in all activities (including homework!). I believe in building a structured environment, in which there is room for spontaneity and creativity.

In 5 years, I hope to be...

In five years I see myself living a career trajectory of a director/choreographer working in the American theater, and a continued intimate connection to youth programming at theatrical institutions.

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

Having worked at Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, I enjoy teaching and sharing the arts programming offered by museums, theaters, and dance companies. With these cultural visits, I lead an exploration for each child to notice deeply, ask questions, identify patterns, make connections, embody a foreign experience, reflect, and most valuably, exhibit empathy. I graduated as Valedictorian of my high school class, so I not only enjoy the arts, but also maintaining an active academic and thoughtful mind. I'm a whiz at guiding a child through difficult passages they may face in their homework and am very capable of helping a teenager with SAT preparation. I'm also fluent in the International Phonetic Alphabet, which is a very helpful tool for learning new languages and enhancing oral reading skills.
