About me
I am a working artist and have worked as a manny for over 6 years. My mother, her sister, and my grandmother all are preschool directors, so working with children is really in my blood. I have worked in preschools, camps, one-on-one as a shadow, and more recently as a manny.
Over the two I stepped away from childcare to focus on creative opportunities, but I am going back to school to pursue a graduate degree, so mannying is perfect for my schedule. All of my previous positions have been fantastic learning experiences, and helped me become more organized and work on many different projects at once. I definitely missed spending as much time outside with children, but am open to any sort of position going forward.
What I like about being a manny is I get to work outside and be active. I am a very active person myself, and don’t like sitting behind a desk all day. I work on personal creative projects, and the typical manny work hours work great with this. I also love to share my artistic experience with the children I work with. If a helping hand is ever needed in the kitchen, I am adept at healthy, gluten free, vegetarian, and vegan cooking. In the end, what really draws me to working with children is the fact that it helps me take an active role in my community, and foster relationships that lend to great children becoming great adults.
I have professional child care experience with...
- Toddlers
- Preschoolers
- School-aged (K-5)
- Preteen
- Teenagers
- Twins
- Multiples
- Special Needs
In 5 years, I hope to be...
Although I love being a manny, my goal is to get a PHD in Urban Studies. I am currently working on a book about the disappearing architecture and culture of Los Angeles, and hope for it to come out in the next 5 years.
Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...
I LOVE to cook, and I love to share the fun of cooking with the children I am working with; anything from healthy dinners, to full winter feasts. Mostly anything that involves building, drawing, or cooking enjoy. Going to the park and drawing from nature is always fun, and I always take a chance to share my skills with others. That being said, if its time to just run around outside, and play some soccer or basketball I am always game!
