About me

For me working with children has always been an innate part of my working life. From my first job babysitting in high school to going to university to complete a Social Work degree and all my experience since then has always been about wanting to make children's lives better from their standard of living, to their health and social and emotional well-being. Since completing my post-graduate studies in Play Therapy, I have learned even more about children's development and ways to communicate with children through play and games. For me being able to help a child use their imagination and engage in creative play other than TV and video games is so helpful for their social and emotional development to become well adjusted and mature adults.

I have worked with children aged 0-18, and this includes direct work, outing and activities and individual counseling sessions. I have worked with children who have difficulties such as ADHD, self esteem and social communication difficulties as well as children going through bereavement and divorce if this is required. I am just as comfortable working with children who have a lot of energy and just want to engage in age-appropriate activities and games of their choice. I am happy to come up with ideas or roll with ideas the kids come up with and be a part of wherever their imagination might roam!

I love being outside, being active, reading, going to new places (museums, parks etc.), and hope that I can share these passions with the children I will be looking after. I also believe that good communication is key and will be happy to fit into any pre-arranged routines that children have in place and ensure they are where they need to be in a timely manner. I can be flexible with changes in plans and have worked in a jobs where organisation skills are key, and I will bring these skills with me into any task that is thrown my way.

As someone who has moved to New York via London (for 5 years) but originally from Australia, I am extremely passionate about exploring, travelling and seeing everything this new city has for me. For me being in New York is a lifelong dream and I am so happy to be here living with my husband and having this amazing adventure. I feel I am a reliable, mature, fun, outgoing person who would make a great role model for the children I work with. I am also someone who has a lot of energy and I want to be able to share this with the right family who is looking for someone with these qualities.
