About me
Four years ago I graduated from Florida State University, packed up a U-Haul, and drove to Brooklyn with my degrees in Studio Art and Advertising to start a job as an Art Director. Since then, I've seen snow for the first time, gained a new-found appreciation for the washer and dryer I used to have, bought my first coat, bought my second coat (I naively underestimated what keeps you warm), became acquainted with the radiator, crossed slush puddles the size of Lake Huron, and ruined more shoes than I'd like to admit in the process. But I still love snow, and I love living in New York, and being so close to so many creative places and people.
I spent the past five summers running around Texas in 102 degree heat covered in a mixture of dirt, glitter, and sunscreen while singing weird songs with a pack of squirrelly kids. They have, by far, been the best summers of my life. I loved encouraging the kids to express their imaginations. Creating a safe place for them to do so is one of the most important things I think we can do. Celebrating kids' imaginative minds, and encouraging them to learn new things as they march to the beat of their own drum, has been a joy to watch. I want to continue encouraging kids to explore their own artistic voices, even in the everyday mundane.
I have professional child care experience with...

In 5 years, I hope to be...
Working as a Creative Director for a company I care about. As much as I love advertising, I want to be creating work for people and companies that deserve their voice to be heard, not just selling tubs of margarine.
Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...
My favorite part of working with kids, whether it be at summer camp, babysitting, or teaching swim lessons, is seeing them let loose and enjoy being a child and playing. There is nothing more joyful than a kid being goofy and feeling free to be themselves because they know they are loved and important. I love teaching about art and creating projects with kids, especially ones that can incorporated with imaginary play. Whether we're building a castles and making costumes, or acting out scenes from their history books to study for a test, I want kids to know they are free to be themselves.
