About me
When I was 14, I would watch my neighbors' kids, teaching them piano and refereeing their basketball games. During college and graduate school, I would tutor students in music, and babysit a couple of great kids who were new to the area. I helped them learn to love their new city, being from Albuquerque originally. After graduating from The Boston Conservatory, I found myself in New York City nannying kids, teaching piano and voice lessons, and specializing in children's theatre as an actress. Again, I nannied a child who was new to Brooklyn and missed California terribly. She was behind in reading, and didn't want to give her new home a chance. I loved finding ways to combine her reading work with a fun activity: for example, I once had her read a book about spies (she loved spies), and then took her to the Discovery exhibit on espionage.
Having moved to New York to be an actress, I did a national tour with Theatreworks USA's "Ramona Quimby," which is when I realized that I wanted to be involved in literature. I did an internship at Houghton Mifflin Harcourt and got to work on Curious George books – I even got to write one (Gymnastics Fun, now available for sale!) Now I'm finally living my dream, living in New York, and I am ready to do what I love: help kids grow.

In 5 years, I hope to be...
An editor, working on books that help stimulate a great intellectual conversation. I also wish to have a real piano in my apartment and a cat.
Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...
I'd love to teach a love for all things music, a love of reading, how to cook and bake, and how to use logic to solve small problems. Maybe how to crochet if they're interested. I'd love to share the admiration for their neighborhood (any neighborhood; all neighborhoods), my sense of controlled adventure, and my love of all things New York.
