About me
I became engrossed with Occupational Therapy after initially researching Special Education teaching. The idea of working with children for whom the traditional education system wasn't working was challenging and intriguing. After further research, I came to the conclusion that I would be better able to help them through OT, and I've been a rolling stone ever since. For me, school isn't a place I go, it's an integral part of who I am, and it's this lifelong love of learning that I seek to instill in children from a young age. There is no "correct" way to learn, but what's incorrect is giving up on a child who is not a traditional learner.
What I hope to achieve with my degree in OT is the acquisition of tools necessary to facilitate children in non-traditional learning. I'm big on singing and dancing (not well, but enthusiastically!), drawing, building, and laughing at our mutual silliness and mistakes. That's what I believe a child caregiver should do, all while keeping a child safe. It's a big responsibility, but one that will repay you tenfold, as the child you helped will grow into a kind and confident young adult. I've worked with dozens of children in my 9 years as a tutor, and seek to continue as an OT, teacher, and friend to children.
