About me
I was 10 years old when my little brother was born. To be clear: I was 10, but I was 10 going on 40, and I took to caring for him like paper takes to water. I became actively involved in his upbringing, particularly when it came to education. He is now 16 and I'm so happy to have had a role in his life.
At Harvard, I sat for three families with kids ages 1-6. I watched them grow, and it was a pleasure and a privilege. Sometimes we baked cupcakes after school, sometimes we went to the natural history museum to draw all kinds of frogs, sometimes we'd learn how to not throw hard snowballs at each other in the playground (New England winters!). At Yale, where I went for graduate school, I sat for the children of two professors, two boys ages 8 and 10, who loved me, even when I enforced their parents' rules about Minecraft.
I am fluent in Spanish (a native speaker) and have a working knowledge of Portuguese. I have written about music professionally since I was 15, and I also have freelanced for several years. I plan on starting an MFA in writing in a couple of years. I love art, music, writing, baking, any kind of craft. In my experience, kids love those things too. And in my experience, kids love me as well!
