About me

For the past six years, I have traveled extensively, living in Italy, Sicily, San Francisco, Spain, the Marin Headlands, and Central California, and love sharing stories about what life is like in different countries.

I began babysitting as a fourteen year old and have continued to build upon my childcare experience. I was employed as a counselor with Tech Trek (a summer camp sponsored by the American Association of University Women), and while studying Art History in Florence during my junior year of university, I worked as a part time nanny for an Italian family. In San Francisco, I was the primary babysitter for a toddler on the autism spectrum, and helped to develop her language and communication skills.

When I began to work as a substitute teacher for elementary and middle schools, I found that the compassion and curiosity that I had learned while living abroad translated very well to childcare and education. In that role, I found a good balance of firm discipline and fun, creative play and was able to connect well with a wide range of ages and personality types. Children can be amazingly creative, and as an artist I enjoyed creating projects and scenarios,
and thinking of ways of presenting classroom material in a way that is vibrant and effective.

I've found a lot of love in teaching and in connecting with children in all stages of development, and I look forward to sharing that passion and drive with your family.

In 5 years, I hope to be...

Using my background in oral history, arts management, and radio production to create projects that inspire people to pay closer attention to the places where they live.

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

Because of my degree in Art History, I enjoy taking museum trips and talking about the artworks and about what thoughts they inspire. I also love to teach language (primarily Italian, but some Spanish and French as well), and to work on creative writing and storytelling exercises. I'm CPR certified and love to swim and go on adventures!
