About me
I started caring for children at the tender age of 7 when I became a big sister - unofficially my first job as a mother's helper. I liked it so much that I opted to work part-time as a sitter throughout college and beyond. Even in completing my studies, I interned at a public school in the Bronx, working with special needs students in Kindergarten-3rd grade. I opted to continue working with children as a part-time nanny after graduating as I found that I deeply enjoy being a part of the formative years of a child's upbringing. I have experience caring for children as young as 2 weeks old to 6 years of age. Being there for a child's first steps, first words and hearing their first story (usually a passionate retelling of something they recently saw) are some of my favorite moments to witness.
The love of reading was instilled in me at a very young age and I always hope to pass that love on to the children I care for. I also enjoy arts and crafts, DIY projects and hope that in time my drawing skills will improve. As of right now, it's very much a work-in-progress. I enjoy taking little ones out to the park, watching them make new friends, trying very hard not to cringe as they bring me bugs and the like.
I'm often asked about my childcare philosophy and I feel that the most important part of working with a family is consistency and communication with the parents. I've worked for several families at once, with differing views and children of various temperaments which has made me flexible in working with different families.
I have professional child care experience with...
- Infants

In 5 years, I hope to be...

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...
I love instilling a love for books, no matter how small the child might be. Hearing a 3-year-old recite a favorite book from memory is one of the greatest joys that come from caring for little ones. I love exploring - New York City has so much to offer, and kids, little adorable sponges that they are, soak up all of it. A 5-year-old little boy I used to take care of would call our trips into the city "adventure days".
