About me
My father is a multi-media artist and my mother is a florist who worked mostly in fashion. Our family split our time between Manhattan and Key West, Florida. In New York, we grew up a block away from the mainstay Chelsea galleries. In Florida, our yard was filled with tropical fruit trees and my father took us lobstering and spearfishing often. As a family, we maintained a garden and compost, as well as kept chickens at both houses. Growing up we traveled all over the world. Being exposed to so many cultures, languages, and cuisines fostered a passion for various ethnic foods and cooking within me. I went on to study drama at The Juilliard School and ultimately decided to pursue writing after falling in love with so many brilliant plays and playwrights.
I am the eldest of three. My experience with children ranges from a camp counselor, and full-time primary caregiver to toddlers, playing big sister and reliable adult presence to siblings caught in a nasty divorce and nearly everything in between. I have nannied on and off for over 10 years both girls and boys between the ages of six months to 11 years old. I have also looked after teens and stayed with the children for weeks on end while parents were traveling as well.
I will relate to your children on a genuine level as I do with all people. Fostering curiosity, wonder, and imagination while establishing loving boundaries for them to grow within as well as engaging them in educational and creative activities. In my experience encouraging a child's interests and creativity helps build their self-confidence. Using positive reinforcement is crucial with all children! There are many ways in the city to include what children are and will be learning in school into our everyday routine together. I make a point each day to discuss what the children are learning as well as take time to help with reading, writing, and all the essentials. In the case of young children reading to them would be a daily activity. As far as discipline goes, my approach is on the laid-back side. When the issue is calmly and immediately confronted, then explained in a clear manner to the child why the behavior was inappropriate, and rather than make them feel that they have done something "wrong" I prefer to offer an alternative, a consideration, etc. That way they are never discouraged to express themselves and keep their healthy sense of curiosity and attempts to understand the world.

Cooking! I absolutely love to cook. I really enjoy teaching children how to cook as well. Nothing better than learning how to be creative and cook beautiful, healthy, and delicious meals. I'm also a tennis player and an avid reader!
