About me
I have been babysitting for over six years now. I love playing with kids because they are so creative, excited, and full of energy. Children can show us a lot, we just have to be willing to listen. I have worked at multiple daycare centers that embraced the Reggio Emilia approach, and as a result I identify most with that philosophy. I think it is crucial to provide a safe environment in which children feel free to be themselves, ask questions, and explore. Communication and a hands-on approach are essential. It is very important to take the time to establish a relationship with the child so they feel comfortable. If a child needs discipline, I don't like to raise my voice, but rather pull them aside and explain why what they were doing wasn't the best choice. I may use a stern tone, but I don't believe yelling is particularly helpful.
As I mentioned, I have babysat and worked at two daycares. I have worked with children from 1-7 years old and have a little experience with older children as well (9-13 years old). I love baking, cooking, travel, and art projects. It is a lot of fun to see when kids are really involved in an art project. I enjoy setting up outings or projects with children. If we can go to a museum or park, it is always a lot of fun. New York has a lot of places to explore!
