About me
I grew up in Istanbul, Turkey, in a close-knit family that includes my wonderful siblings. My childhood was filled with curiosity and creativity; I loved playing outdoors, exploring new ideas, and helping my siblings with their own activities. I arrived in New York 15 years ago as part of the Cultural Exchange Program, where I worked as an au pair and completed a CPR and First Aid certification. Since then, I’ve built a rewarding career caring for children as a nanny. Although I didn’t pursue college in the U.S., my experiences and passion have allowed me to grow professionally, focusing on providing safe, nurturing environments for children of all ages. My background has instilled a sense of empathy, adaptability, and cultural understanding, all of which contribute to my work with families in New York.
I have over 15 years of experience working with children, ranging from infants as young as 4 months old to preschoolers and young children up to school age. My role with children has varied widely, from changing diapers and managing feeding schedules to engaging children in educational play and planning daily routines. My last long-term position was with the Semaan-Weiselberg family, where I cared for two children from infancy through school age. Prior to that, I worked with the family of Elif Ada, caring for a 3-year-old, and later with Dana and Erez Elkis’s 6-month-old son. In these roles, I held titles like a full-time nanny and date-night sitter. Strong skills in infant care, potty training, and creating a supportive environment for each child’s unique needs. I’m also fluent in Turkish, which families sometimes find helpful in fostering language skills or cultural awareness.
Outside of work, I’m energized by the opportunity to explore, learn, and experience new things—qualities I share with children! I love being outdoors, reading, and finding new ways to bring creativity into my daily routine, especially through cooking healthy meals and engaging kids in fun, playful activities. I find great purpose in helping children grow into their fullest selves, and I approach childcare with patience, positivity, and respect for each child’s individuality. My motivation comes from seeing children flourish, knowing I am a part of their journey. It’s essential to create a trusting environment where children feel safe and supported, and I strive to achieve that with each family I work with.
