About me

I'm a native New Yorker, born and raised in uptown Manhattan! I have a sister who is six years younger, and started babysitting for many of her friends and younger kids in my building when I was in my teens, so childcare has been a lifelong passion area of mine. I grew up in a big theater family, and have always loved imaginative play and performance. I graduated from Smith College in 2018 where I majored in the Study of Women and Gender, and spent most of my summers at home nannying for various children in my neighborhood. After school, I was drawn to education and youth work, particularly through LGBTQ focused nonprofits, and I found it very rewarding to do community based work. During the pandemic, I really missed the ability to work one on one with children and create a more personal dynamic, so I began working in childcare once again.

I have experience with children ages 3 months- 12 years, but have spent the past three years working primarily with babies and toddlers, which I love very much. In 2022, I began working with a six month old whose mother is a developmental psychologist who works from home, which was a wonderful opportunity to learn about significant developmental milestones and. In this role, I would make bottles and feed the baby according to his schedule, change diapers and keep the environment as tidy as possible, put him down for naps and wake him up at appropriate times, take him out for activities like the playground, library, and classes, and lots of play time! I also played a key role in potty training and preparing him for the birth of a sibling. I've also babysat during date nights which entailed preparing dinner, bath time, and putting a little one down for bed. In my work with older children, I've provided homework help when needed.

I love theater, which I think makes me great at pretend play and storytime. I'm a big believer in leaving the world a better place for the ones who come next, and I feel that childcare allows me to do that. I use some Montessori and Waldorf principles in my work, and always encourage kindness to promote social emotional skills.

In 5 years, I hope to be...

I'd love to be parenting kids of my own, working on creative projects, or doing work that benefits my community in some way.

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

I'm very crafty and love any kind of art project! I also love singing and playing music with little ones. I'm very into promoting storytime and love reading out loud, and I'm a big playground guy, especially having grown up in the city myself!
