About me

I was born and raised in Philadelphia as the youngest child. At three years old I joined a local dance studio where I trained through my senior year of high school. I am now in my first semester at Thomas Jefferson University where I am enrolled in their nursing program with the hope to one day work in pediatric care.

My introduction to childcare began in my Freshman year of high school when I became a part-time sitter for a family friend, Ms. Clarke. Ms. Clarke has two young twin boys that I would occasionally care for after school and on special occasions when Ms. Clarke was unavailable. While the boys were in my care, I was responsible for preparing meals and snacks, putting them down for naps, and as they got older, assisting with their homework. In my Junior year, I began as an instructor for a children’s hip-hop class at my dance studio where the majority of children were under the age of ten. This position served as a great learning opportunity for me as working with such a large group of young children helped me to develop my professionalism and greatly increased my patience in stressful situations.

One quote that greatly resonates with me is, “Children are the living messages we send to a time we will not see.” I am a firm believer in the idea that children are our future- making it so important that as many children as possible receive the proper nurture and love to create a healthy future for themselves. It is this idea that drives my desire to work in child care. If everyone does their part in shaping the next generation, there is inevitably a bright future ahead for all. It is my goal to fulfill this individual responsibility.
