About me
Hi. My name is Teal. I grew up in Washington State, where I enjoyed playing soccer, participating in Girl Scouts, and taking on various leadership roles in high school, such as being the ASB treasurer and Honor Society president. I grew up near the beach and enjoyed spending time with my friends and family. I have an older brother and have spent lots of time with my cousins, so I am very family-oriented. During high school, I worked as a peer mentor through the YMCA, provided childcare for a variety of families, and also volunteered in a developmental preschool program.
I am currently living in NYC and seeking a full-time nanny position. I graduated from Washington State University, majoring in Human Development, focusing on family studies and early childhood development, with a minor in communications. I worked as a nanny while I was going to college. After college, I moved to Hawaii for a year and continued working as a professional nanny. I love working with young children and have a variety of experiences working with children in both formal educational settings and private homes. I have 8+ years of experience working with children and several years as a professional nanny. I am reliable, proactive, and enthusiastic. I use a developmentally appropriate approach to promote independent learning. I am willing to travel, help with household tasks, and enjoy pets.
I have experience caring for children from infancy to 12 years, but most of my experience has been working with children from infancy through their preschool years. I am a flexible caregiver who provides excellent childcare and organizational assistance to families. I have a proven record of providing safety and comfort to children while creating engaging activities and learning opportunities. I am dedicated to helping children become confident, independent learners using explorative play and a developmentally appropriate approach to learning.
I have professional child care experience with...
- Infants
- Toddlers
- Preschoolers
- School-aged (K-5)
In 5 years, I hope to be...
I plan to continue my career as a professional nanny and pursue my goal of settling down and having a family of my own. I'd also love to travel more within the U.S. and internationally.
Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...
I love providing various learning opportunities for the children I work with. These might include arts and crafts, park trips, reading children's books, and playing games with them. Children learn best through play, and I love to facilitate play opportunities and participate in them. I like to find out what interests each child and build upon those interests. I believe in providing play opportunities that help children develop in all areas, including cognitive, social, motor, and communication development.
