About me

My name is Sophia, and I am an engaging nanny with over eight years of professional childcare experience. I have always had a passion for children, nature, animals, music, and all things creative. I spent the first sixteen years of my life in Upstate New York, where I developed my love for horseback riding and a deep appreciation for the outdoors. I then moved to Brooklyn where I attended City As School, a high school that provides its students with internships around the city and allowed me to intern in childcare and teaching at Brooklyn Friends School and Brooklyn New School, where I gained valuable experience working in classroom settings. I have also always had an interest in holistic and alternative medicine and health, and for a year now I have been in school studying massage therapy part-time. It has been an amazing experience and I am currently considering infant or prenatal massage as a specialty.

My extensive experience in childcare has allowed me to develop a deep understanding of children's needs and a passion for fostering their growth and development.

I have always been dedicated to providing comprehensive care, tailored to each child's unique personality and interests. My most recent experience was caring for two children from toddlerhood to elementary school age. As their nanny, I created age-appropriate activities, maintained a safe and organized play space, managed daily routines, and communicated effectively with their parent. This long-term commitment allowed me to build strong relationships and support their development throughout their early years. In my other previous nanny roles further solidified my skills in providing care for infants and toddlers. I was responsible for feeding, diapering, soothing, and ensuring both children's comfort and well-being. I also monitored developmental milestones and communicated regularly with the parents to provide updates and address any concerns.

In addition to in-home childcare, I also have experience in group settings. As a camp counselor, I led engaging activities for children ages 5-12, fostering teamwork, social interaction, and a sense of belonging. I ensured a safe and positive camp environment, while also promoting creativity and exploration. My experience as a kindergarten teacher's assistant at Brooklyn New School allowed me to support children's learning and development in a group setting. I assisted with classroom activities, lesson planning, and teaching, ensuring a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere. This role provided me with valuable insights into early childhood education and classroom management.

Throughout my career, I have consistently demonstrated my ability to adapt my approach to each child's unique needs, while maintaining a consistent and nurturing environment. I am committed to providing a safe, engaging, loving, and supportive space for children to grow and thrive.

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

I love to spend quality time making art, crafts, puzzles, reading, and creating things with kids. I love having the opportunity to learn about a kid's unique special interests as well, or learning new things together! I also enjoy a good game of tag in the park or a trip to the playground, of course. When it comes to infants who can't participate in all of these quite yet, I love going on walks and exploring outdoors, lots of cuddles, sensory play, chatting, singing, and reading.
