About me

Hi, I’m Grace! I am the eldest of 3 from Maplewood, NJ. As a kid, I was a voracious bookworm – once reading my way completely through the fiction shelves of my elementary school! Naturally, I planned to become an English teacher to share my enthusiasm for reading with others. As I pursued this track, however, I had an experience that altered my plan permanently: I became a nanny.

In 2019, I became the primary caretaker to twin boys, ages 15–24 months. I conducted their entire day from wake-up to bedtime. Both were unilaterally profoundly deaf, meaning they had zero hearing ability in one ear. Facing this challenge, I discovered opportunities to learn about early childhood development. My experiences facilitating their incredible transitions as toddlers, and witnessing their distinct and courageous personalities develop, affected my thinking not just about childhood, but personhood. I realized my calling was one closer to individuals.

In 2023, I became an ABA assistant at an early intervention center for toddlers with Autism Spectrum Disorder. I worked with children across the spectrum, through the variegated emotional, cognitive, sensory, physical, and other associated expressions of ASD, teaching motor and social skills and behavior management in tandem with the usual basics – songs, dance, puzzles, books – always at a level personalized to the child. I now feel that every child has a unique set of developmental circumstances and a no less determined personality. By getting to know them, individualizing their care, and refining their toolset, we can facilitate their highest achievement.

I plan to continue to develop my knowledge and skills in the field of early childhood development. As I pursue this long-term goal, I hope to be a good fit for your family! Although my experience is specialized, my skills are universal, and I’m happy to support your child, whatever their developmental track. A former EMT, I am equipped to handle an emergency; my Pediatric CPR certification is up to date. I also teach yoga twice a week, as I believe in a holistic mind-body approach to personal achievement for adults as much as children! Thank you for reading and getting to know me!
