About me
I am a native New Yorker -- born and raised. The middle of three kids, I have one older and one younger sister. All my life I've been a storyteller. I love writing, making art, and bringing my stories to life in different forms. Going to public school in the city helped teach me grit and independence. Some of my best memories growing up are in a classroom with compassionate educators and outspoken students, teaching each other.
I have always been comfortable taking care of kids. My nephew was born when I was 10 years old. From day one I cared about looking after him and supporting his development. As an adult, I've spent a lot of time working with high school students supervising off-campus activities, providing academic support and enrichment through writing and art. The coolest thing about spending time with kids, no matter what age, is giving them space to be who they are, find their voice, and cheer them on. After leaving corporate America two years ago, I started working with Stone, a 1.5-year-old. Together, we spent lots of time outdoors, becoming more confident in walking and learning to communicate with others. Currently, I work with Tycho, a super smart and warm two-year-old who loves making new friends and taking adventures together.
I am equal parts creative and constructive, so I understand the value and importance of providing space and security for children to explore, use their imagination, and have fun. I believe in treating all humans with respect and empathy and I think that's especially important when working with younger folks; showing them it's okay to ask questions, talk about your feelings, and build positive connections to the world and all who inhabit it.
