About me

Thinking I would work in government, I graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill with a major in Political Science. However, after winning a scholarship I began volunteering at a mindfulness community in Thailand where with the help of drama therapy I rediscovered my love of storytelling. Growing up as a middle child in a family of seven, storytelling was my way of connecting with people around me. I developed a strong sense of responsibility and empathy early on as I helped care for my younger siblings, especially my younger brother, Matthew. Matthew was mostly nonverbal for a large part of our childhood, often leaning on me for companionship and to communicate his needs. This early experience made childcare a natural fit when I sought a source of income as a young adult. More importantly, though this line of work perfectly aligns my two main passions: creativity and supporting others to become their best selves. So, here I am a few years later living in New York and every day I have the opportunity to infuse my imagination and playfulness into my interactions with children while also being a nurturing, compassionate presence in their lives, helping to nurture their growth and development.

With over 10 years of experience as an in-home childcare provider and educator, I have worked in various roles including occasional babysitter, full-time nanny, and homeschool teacher. Throughout my career, I have cared for children ranging from just 3 months old to 14 years old. As a childcare provider, my responsibilities have included: offering attentive care, creating engaging playtime activities, preparing meals, light housekeeping, assisting the family with errands, and supporting children's emotional and developmental needs. In my role as a homeschool teacher and tutor, I have designed curriculums, delivered comprehensive lessons across core subjects, identified and addressed academic challenges, and developed project-based learning activities.

I firmly believe that if everyone experienced more compassion in their lives the world would be profoundly different. That’s why my childcare approach is all about being fully present and creating a safe space for authentic expression.
