About me

I had an idyllic childhood right outside of Austin in Dripping Springs, Texas. We lived in a newly built neighborhood on a double-ended cul-de-sac that housed 30+ kids. We rode bikes, performed our own concerts, and kicked rocks together. As a teenager, I loved to sing and play the piano. I spent my weekends babysitting for family friends and neighbors. In 2023 I graduated from Trinity University with a degree in Sociology. After graduation, I traveled across Europe and now I work full-time as a nanny.

When I graduated high school in 2018 I moved to Harlem and worked as a classroom assistant, phonics tutor, afterschool facilitator, and near-peer mentor for 4th and 5th grade students through City Year. At the end of the year, I moved back to Texas for school and worked part-time as a babysitter and nanny for various families. I worked with infants as young as three months old, preparing and washing bottles, doing feedings, changing diapers, and working on tummy time. During Covid, I assisted a six-year-old boy and his eight-year-old sister with Down Syndrome with their online schooling. During breaks, we took trips to the park, swam in their backyard pool, and played hours upon hours of Legos and Sorry.

My favorite part of working with kids is watching them grow! I love seeing infants hit milestones and toddlers start to gain independence. Authenticity is central to my childcare philosophy. When I come to work I am intentional about finding activities that are fun for the kids and for me so I can enthusiastically say "YES!" to engage in play with them.

In five years I hope to be in a position that allows me to travel! I love the idea of joining families on their trips. I want to see the children I care for broaden their horizons.

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

I love working on frustration tolerance with kids. It is exhausting and maddening but so worthwhile when you see them take their own deep breaths or punch a pillow instead of a person! One of my favorite ways to help kids manage their frustration is to help them write a letter. They get to feel heard and they start to connect the dots between the written word and how it applies to them. One of my favorite parts of being a nanny is getting to beautiful and fun picture books. The kids I care for learn about authors, illustrators, main characters, and parts of a book. We take trips to the library to learn how to choose good books and how to check them out. Some of the kids I care for have even been interested in writing their own construction paper books!
