About me

Hello, my name is Destiny, and I was born and raised in NYC!

In a family of five siblings, I am the oldest in the household. Some might say I have "oldest sibling energy"! This helps me in my work as a nanny, which I especially love to do with babies and younger children (although I also have experience with the five to nine age group too from my work in summer camp/after school).

I've worked in childcare for the past 9+ years! While I'll soon be pursuing a master's degree, I'll do so online (with a flex schedule!) so I'm excited to find my next long-term nanny family. I have experience working with children of varying ages. In addition to in-home childcare, I have experience working at an After School/Summer Camp program, and then later, MyGym for Babies and Toddlers, assisting newborns and toddlers in the development of their gross and fine motor abilities in a fun and creative manner. Furthermore, I have expertise in teaching traditional karate to children as young as three years old and older. I have earned a black belt of the second degree. I've spent a lot of time with Traditional karate and Brazilian jiu-jitsu, and I am a professional mixed martial artist.

As a full-time private caretaker, I've worked with babies as young as four months old. Previous responsibilities included teaching them baby sign language, facilitating tummy time, helping them learn to sit up, stand, and walk, feeding them with bottles (and transitioning to solids as they grow), changing their diapers, and simply focusing on achieving their milestones from one month to the next. Other responsibilities included bottle washing, light housekeeping/laundry for the children, and daily walks outside. As they grow, I love teaching children the alphabet, working on colors, engaging in imaginative indoor play, and providing them with a broad variety of other activities that make learning fun!

Furthermore, I have previous experience working with individuals who have specific criteria, which is a significant advantage. During my former job, I had the opportunity to work with a family whose child had type 1 diabetes, which presented some challenges. I made every effort to acquire additional knowledge on diabetes and to triumph over these obstacles. My responsibilities included keeping a close eye on his numbers on a regular basis, learning how to administer insulin, and being extremely cautious at all times of the highs and lows that were associated with this care.

Spending time in the great outdoors, participating in physical activity, and going to places like parks, museums, zoos, and aquariums are some of the activities that I enjoy doing the most. I'm an excellent communicator, and I make it a point to keep the parents informed about our day-to-day activities, providing photos at various points throughout the day. I have experience working with children who suffer from severe allergies and I take their condition extremely seriously. Because I am well aware that each and every child is a unique individual, the manner in which I react to particular situations may vary from one child to the next.

A goal in my life is to motivate future generations to work toward making the world a more equal and harmonious place than it is right now. Combining my studies and childcare experience, I've found that the first five years of a child's life are extremely significant in the process of identity building. I trust that our children can develop into remarkable individuals if their parents and caregivers prioritize their well-being in their early years and treat them with the love and respect they deserve. I'd love to meet your family and see if we could be a great match!
