About me

My name is Liz Borresen and I am a native New Yorker. Born and raised in Queens and currently living in Nassau County. I received my BS in Education from Queens College in 1988. I have worked in many capacities with children for over 40 years. I started as a babysitter and camp counselor at age 12 and then became a teacher and daycare provider. Along the way, I raised 4 children of my own and have taken care of many of my 30+ nieces, nephews, and grand nieces and grand nephews. I am fortunate to spend time with my 4 grandchildren now. Most recently I have provided private daily childcare for a family in Lido Beach. They have recently relocated to another state.

My first teaching job was for the NYC Board of Education. I taught elementary school at P.S. 91 in Queens. I then stayed home with my own 4 children for 8 years. I returned to work as a permanent elementary substitute in the East Meadow School District. I next found myself at the Hofstra University Childcare Center, working with newborns to 4-year-olds from 2007-2019. In 2019 I took a private childcare job, caring for a little girl who was 1 when I started. I remained with her until the family recently moved out of state. I have also worked part-time for a family with a daughter who has cerebral palsy. I dressed, fed, and administered her medications before each school day. I began when she was 9 and worked with her until she was 18.

I have always enjoyed working with children. I love to see them learn and grow. There is nothing better than seeing that look on their face when they have mastered a new skill or understood something for the first time.
