About me
As the second child of a military family, I grew up all over the United States (Ohio, Alabama, Florida, New Mexico, and California). Though the constant relocation was oftentimes difficult, it did instill within me a strong sense of adaptability and exposed me to a wide variety of people, places, and ways of being. I attended the University of Washington for my undergraduate education, where I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Sociology. After college, I was employed first as a registered behavior technician. In this position, I worked one-on-one with children and adolescents with neurological disabilities- primarily autism- to help them develop and maintain quality-of-life sustaining habits while mitigating the more maladaptive ones.
My first childcare experience came at the age of 12 years old when I became the regular sitter for a pair of 6-month-old twin girls. Years later, when the family welcomed their third baby girl, I had the honor to care for all three children. After that, I babysat for another family with 3 boys (a pair of twins and one infant). Throughout college, I was employed part-time with a nannying agency and worked with a number of families. The family I worked with most closely included an elementary-school-aged boy and a middle-school-aged girl. I loved engaging them in thoughtful conversation to learn about their interests. I am very proud of the young adults they are (so quickly!) growing into. I also had the pleasure of working as a full-time nanny for a 9-month-old boy. My duties included preparing meals (bottles and solid food), naps/sleep training, laundry, diaper changes, and taking him to local parks, community centers, and music classes. I most enjoyed singing to him, fostering a love for reading, and watching him take his first steps. In addition to those families mentioned here, I have served as a regular, occasional, and one-time sitter for children throughout the country.
In my personal life, I enjoy reading, watching movies, listening to music, and visiting museums. When the weather allows, I also like to camp and hike- especially in National Parks. I am currently enrolled in a Master of Arts in Psychology program at the New School for Social Research. I hope to one day earn my Marriage and Family Therapy license and a PhD in psychology.
The author James Baldwin once said, “The children are always ours, every single one of them, all over the globe,” and I have truly taken these words to heart. I firmly believe that each and every member of society has a responsibility to respect and care for children. I strive to do this by facilitating a safe, kind, and thoughtful environment for all of the children under my care to grow and thrive in.

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...
With younger children and infants, I love reading, singing, dancing, and playing pretend- all of which are excellent ways to work on mobility, communication, and critical thinking! With older children and adolescents, I enjoy engaging them in conversation to find out what they are passionate about and establish commonalities. I always endeavor to teach kids healthy communication and problem-solving skills, while fostering a love for learning.
