About me

I have extensive experience working with children: from infants to high school. I've worked as a babysitter and nanny for nine years and as an educator for seven, most recently running programming in theatre and film for children and teens. I've worked with kids as a tutor and teacher, helping with homework, English, math and languages. I've also constructed games and activities for younger children, turning an entire day spent with a child into a fun and dynamic experience. I have an extensive background in the arts and bring skills in drawing, painting, clay, sewing, puppet-making, and model-building to the children I work with. I have experience with Montessori and Waldorf pedagogy and am happy to work with parents to tailor my approach with each child.

One of my strongest qualities in working with children (as a teacher, a tutor and a babysitter) is my ability to listen. Whether it be creating exciting games and activities or working through behavioral difficulties, careful listening is key. When kids feel you are listening to them, I've found, not only are positive communication channels more accessible, but we have a lot more fun together. I bring a tremendous amount of passion and creativity to my work with children, which makes me a standout sitter. I love creating games, projects and adventures for kids as well as helping with school work. When talking with parents I like to be clear about their goals and rules for each child, so that I can make sure to approach each family with care and thoughtfulness.

In 5 years, I hope to be...

Running a theatre company and theatre education program for children and teens. The theatre transformed my life as a child and I believe it's an invaluable skill to teach young people. I've worked extensively in arts education in the past and seen its incredible impact and am passionate about continuing this work.

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

I have an extensive background in the arts--from making miniatures out of clay, to building doll houses, to making puppets, to drawing and painting and much more. I love doing creative projects with kids and am passionate about incorporating art into all the work I do. I love music and can teach children basic guitar and ukulele. I also love to bake and find that this is a fantastic activity for some children and can teach them skills from math to patience. I have a great understanding for animals and enjoy sharing this passion and knowledge with children. Because I also work as a theatre director, I have an adept sense of play and love to help kids create make believe worlds, indoors and outdoors.
