About me

I grew up in the south shore area of Massachusetts. I spent my childhood making art, baking desserts, and playing frisbee outside with my older brother. I moved to Philadelphia to attend Temple University, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Art Therapy, and have fell in love with the city since. I am currently pursuing a Masters in Art Therapy and Counseling from Drexel University.

During the summers of high school, I worked as a camp counselor for kids of all ages. I spent a few sessions with the preschool troops, third and fourth graders, and all the way up to seventh and eighth graders. Over the course of these summers, I would babysit for a few different families I met through the camp, in which I would take the kids home, prepare snacks, assist with summer school assignments, and engage the kids in either a physical or creative activity.

While in college, I volunteered at Al Bustan, an arts and culture organization in West Philly, assisting their teaching artist with her after-school art class. The students ranged from ages 6-11 and my main job was to promote creativity and help bring their ideas to life. Working with children in an art setting was so special, I love witnessing children’s wild imaginations in these creative spaces. After graduating from Temple, I became a service member for Americorps program Joyful Readers, whose mission is to strengthen literacy skills at an early elementary level to set students up for literacy success during later years. I tutored K-3 students in letter sounds, spelling, and reading comprehension. This is a skill I would be able to bring into my work as a childcare provider as well.

I grew up in the same town as my extended family. My house was a five-minute drive to my grandparents and a ten-minute drive to my cousins. Living so close to them felt like my cousins were my other siblings and my aunt and uncle were my second parents. Being surrounded by so many loved ones, my childhood felt like a community of love. I believe a strong support system is essential for children to grow up to be happy, thriving adults. I’d like to be part of this support system for others to help children be the happiest versions they can be!
