About me

Hello! I am an experienced sitter originally from Birmingham Alabama. I moved to Chapel Hill North Carolina in 2005 and called the Triangle my home until 2022. I moved to New York after completing my Biology at NC State to attend the CUNY Graduate School of Journalism. Between undergraduate and graduate school, I babysat and worked as a youth minister. Since graduating from journalism school, I have done local news reporting for Queens and Brooklyn.

As a child, I loved to play with dolls and build things with legos and blocks. I still enjoy building with Legos. I am the second-oldest child in a family of four children. I also did dancing and singing as a child and teenager.

My previous childcare experience includes consistent work for 1.5 years with a family of 3 boys ages 6, 4, and 2. I loved playing with the boys and tending to their needs. My favorite activities with them were building with Magna-Tiles, wooden train sets, and Legos. I frequently kept the toddler entertained while the older boys played with toys that were not toddler-friendly. I would also assist the parents with outings and watch the boys on date nights. I loved reading to them at the end of the day or whenever someone wanted to chill and listen to a story. I also fed the boys and put the youngest down for a nap when needed. I have also been an occasional, on-call sitter for families who need a caregiver on short notice.

Besides in-home nanny care, I was also a camp counselor for two summers. The camp was residential and children's ages ranged from five to fifteen. I ran activities, acted as a role model, and helped with any needs they had during their week at camp. The best part was seeing kids for both summers I was there. I was also a lifeguard my second summer and continued to work as one at my local YMCA.

As a caregiver, I love to play with kids and bring out my inner child at playtime. My philosophy is that children and teens want someone who will spend time with them and be a friend when needed. I feel most rewarded when I can help a child, at any age, get through a tough time.
